Editor/Senior Editor – Forever imprint
The Forever imprint of Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group, is looking for an Editor or Sr. Editor to join our dynamic team, with a focus on romance, romantasy, and highly commercial book club fiction. We’re looking for someone passionate in this category and community who loves keeping up with the latest trends and bestsellers. This individual will report directly to the VP, Publisher of Forever.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acquiring and editing approximately 15 titles per year for publication.
Successfully negotiating main deal points.
Working effectively with authors, agents, art, publicity, marketing, and managing editorial in all phases of the publishing process, from acquisition through publication date and beyond to package and position each title for success in the market.
Reading and respond to submissions in a timely manner.
Preparing materials such as acquisition memos, profit and loss statements, title fact sheets, catalog and jacket copy, etc.
Develop IP.
Highlight trends, competition, and opportunities at weekly team meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in book publishing in relevant editorial or acquisitions positions to be considered for Editor, 7 years for Sr. Editor.
Experience in content evaluation and acquisition. Ability to be a self-starter with a willingness to go beyond your email inbox in pursuing acquisitions.
Excellent developmental and line-editing abilities.
Broad knowledge of, and interest in, romance and its subcategories.
Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
Demonstrated understanding of and an appreciation for the ideas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to deliver timely, accurate work and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.
Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
The role is NYC based and requires a minimum of three set days in the office per week.

The compensation for this position is $65,000-$85,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
