Overview
GMC is seeking a motivated Roadway Design Project Manager
for our
Augusta, GA or Cartersville, GA
office(s). This individual will be responsible for successfully managing client relationships in conjunction with training and mentoring a team of engineers, technicians and interns. Technical Competencies
Experience with plan, designing, and producing roadway related engineering drawings - to include concept alignments, preliminary and final construction plans and construction support
Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements and processes - Federal, State (GA) and Local
Working knowledge in highway design principles and concepts, GDOT design standards, GDOT plans preparation procedures
Possesses oral, written, and communication skills including strong technical writing
Performing project management duties that requires excellent task and time management skills
Providing QA/QC support for GMC roadway projects
Executes cross discipline checks and coordination
Completes project documents with conformity and quality assurance

Assist with development of projects
Develops projects from marketing and contract negotiations through development of scope and contract execution
Recognize priority of projects and clients
Managing day to day tasks of the production team
Team Orientation
Coordinate production of all work and distribute to appropriate staff
Assist with recruitment for technical staff
Coordinate preparation of contract documents, reports, amendments, change orders and project
Work across disciplines and office locations to fully utilize firm experiential knowledge
Delegate project assignments to and assist with technical development of lesser experienced engineers

Represent the firm in all aspects of projects and assignments to prospective employees, clients, and the communities we serve

Communication
Coordinate the work of peer team members on multiple projects
Interacts effectively with team members, clients, GDOT, and local government officials
Collaborate with sub-consultants and other project team members
Provide guidance related to overall technical objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters
Leadership
Supports all aspects of project management development, design, bidding, construction and closeout
Uphold project delivery standards including technical, procedural and MicroStation
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field
Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Georgia is required
6 -10 years of experience in roadway engineering
Knowledge of Georgia Department of Transportation guidelines, specifications, drawings and organizational structure
Knowledge of roadway design guidelines such as the "Green Book", MUTCD and other FHWA publications
Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Experience with MicroStation Design platforms particularly Open Roads - AutoCAD skills acceptable
Having attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal
Ability to prepare and maintain records, prepare reports, documents and correspondence related to the work
Ability to work in a team environment
Valid driver's license as occasional travel is required, often driving to project sites located outdoors
