Solution Designer - Power Platform Migration
Overview We are a technology services organization undertaking a major digital transformation initiative for a key client - migrating approximately 3,000 workflows from Nintex on-premises to Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Dataverse, etc.).
We are seeking a Solution Designer to lead the overall solution architecture and design approach for this migration program. This role will define and govern best practices, ensure the technical and functional integrity of the solution, identify and address gaps in transitioning to the Power Platform, and guide development teams in delivering scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.
Location: This role is fully remote for someone based in the US, but the successful candidate must be able to support our client working in Eastern Time Zone.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture
Lead the overall solution design and migration approach from Nintex to Power Platform. Define the target solution architecture, ensuring alignment with Microsoft best practices and enterprise standards. Analyze existing Nintex workflows and map capabilities to Power Platform components (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, etc.). Design scalable, maintainable, and secure workflow and application solutions. Identify and mitigate gaps, limitations, and dependencies between legacy and new technologies. Identify opportunities for reusable components and functions to allow standardization and efficiency in solutions across the organization. Technical Leadership
Act as the primary technical authority for Power Platform architecture and design decisions. Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and other architects to ensure cohesive solution delivery. Provide technical oversight during migration, testing, and deployment phases. Define and enforce Power Platform governance, ALM (Application Lifecycle Management), and environment strategies. Ensure solution compliance with data security, privacy, and compliance requirements. Best Practices & Standards
Establish and document Power Platform solutioning standards and patterns for the project team. Champion reusability, modularity, and maintainability in workflow and app design. Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to the broader project and client teams. Support development of solution design templates, reference architectures, and design review processes. Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to ensure solution alignment with business goals Present solution options, design artifacts, and technical recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Contribute to project planning and estimation from a solution perspective. Participate in governance and design review boards. Qualifications & Experience
Required:
8+ years of experience in solution design, architecture, or technical leadership roles. Proven experience designing and implementing solutions using Microsoft Pow Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Dataverse). Strong understanding of Nintex Workflow / Forms (on-premises or O365) and migration strategies. Experience designing integrations with Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Azure, a third-party systems Deep understanding of workflow automation principles, process modeling, and low-code/no-code solution development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to deconstruct complex legacy processes. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred:
Microsoft certifications (e.g., Power Platform Solution Architect Expert, Power Platform Functional Consultant, or Microsoft 365 Certified). Experience with large-scale migration or transformation programs. Familiarity with ALM practices, DevOps for Power Platform, and environment management in the Microsoft context. Understanding of governance, compliance, and security frameworks for enterprise applications. Familiarity working within an Agile delivery framework. Key Attributes
Strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise. Collaborative leader who can influence and guide multi-disciplinary teams.
