History:
Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Patient Navigator/Prior Authorization Specialists a healthcare professional who guides patients through the complexities of the healthcare system to help ensure continuity of care both clinically and financially. The Navigator/Prior Authorization Specialist ensures that prior authorizations are completed for services or medications ordered by and provided in the Rural Health Clinic. Works collaboratively with the referral specialists to ensure referrals are completed. The navigator serves as a clinical resource for scheduling and referral clerks and provides support for nursing staff by assisting with communication boards as needed.
Requirements
Education:
Graduate of a School of Professional Nursing - LVN or RN
Licenses/Certificates:
A license to practice professional nursing by the Texas Board of Nursing or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact.
Successful completion of AHA approved courses in BLS upon hire.
Experience:
Working experience with insurance plans, prior authorizations and referrals required. Working experience in a clinic setting preferred.
