Position Description The Department of Art and Art History at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a lecturer position in the Art Studio Program to teach Beginning Photography in Winter 2026 (Jan. 5 – Mar. 20). The selected lecturer will teach a three‑hour studio class twice a week and schedule regular office hours.
Art 009: Beginning Photography – This class introduces students to the visual language of photographic art and technique, manual camera operation and printing techniques, the concept and practice of photography as an art form, and the creation of photographic projects.
Qualifications include an MFA or equivalent, at least 3 years of college/university‑level teaching experience beyond the TA level, expertise in the discipline, and experience teaching photography. Candidates with diverse viewpoints, background, and experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities Teach a three‑hour studio class in Beginning Photography twice a week.
Schedule and hold regular office hours.
Develop and deliver course materials, including syllabi and assessments.
Provide constructive feedback and support to students throughout the semester.
Qualifications MFA or equivalent degree.
Minimum of 3 years of college/university‑level teaching experience beyond the TA level.
Expertise in the discipline and experience teaching photography.
