Senior Even Better & Lifestyle Editor, Vox.com Remote (US Only) About Vox is hiring a senior editor to oversee our Even Better & Lifestyle team. We’re looking for a versatile journalist who is passionate and knowledgeable about a wide swath of coverage of society, trends, and human behavior to lead two aspects of our coverage: Service journalism under our Even Better vertical, which focuses on mental & physical health, relationships, community, and work & money. Our goal is to provide actionable advice to readers and engage with big, fraught topics about how to live a good life. Lifestyle coverage , which takes a creative approach to understanding cultural moments & social trends. From the Labubu craze to explaining the larger stakes of cultural moments like the Sydney Sweeney jeans ad, we take these subjects seriously, with an approach rooted in expertise, creativity, and inclusivity. The ideal candidate is a generalist who is eager to distill distinctive angles and arguments, can see stories hidden in plain sight, and has a knack for identifying the most important stories where Vox can bring clarity and understanding. What You’ll Do Work with the editorial director and other team editors to shape Vox’s service journalism and lifestyle coverage, using an explanatory lens to break down complicated stories in a clear, creative, and compelling way for the general interest reader. Lead the Even Better, Vox’s service journalism vertical. Manage and edit a team of staff reporters. Work collaboratively with others across the newsroom—including podcast producers and video producers—on one‑off stories and larger editorial projects. Who You Are Demonstrated experience managing a team of reporters. Demonstrated experience assigning and editing service journalism. Strong story judgment and editing skills. 5+ years of editorial experience, with a proven track record of editing or leading a vertical or section. Strong background in service journalism, lifestyle, or ideas writing & editing. Exceptional line‑editing skills and the ability to shape complex topics into clear, compelling stories. Creative thinker with an eye for distinctive story ideas and formats. Collaborative leader who values mentorship & teamwork. Comfort with analytics & audience data to inform editorial strategy. Familiarity with digital media trends and multiplatform storytelling. The ability to help reporters uncover key insights in complex topics & to find the best frame for their stories. Knowledge & curiosity about social trends & human behavior writ large, & a passion for digging into the details.
