PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining strategic communications that elevate the company’s brand, engage employees, and support business objectives. This role advances ICW Group’s image through internal and external marketing communications that drive financial growth, partnering with stakeholders across product lines and shared services to ensure consistent, effective messaging across all channels. The role suits a skilled writer, strategic thinker, and collaborative team player with a passion for storytelling and audience engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop internal company communications and drive employee engagement.
  • Initiate internal communications strategies to promote company programs and events.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and leaders to craft campaigns across channels that inform, motivate, and engage employees.
  • Develop communications that reinforce ICW Group’s culture and support business objectives.
  • Help produce company-wide meetings, including content development and delivery.
  • Create and edit company intranet content, including news and announcements.
  • Develop and implement project plans within the department and manage ongoing projects.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of internal communications and engagement programs.
  • Support projects to enhance communication technology and intranet solutions.
  • Ensure all communications adhere to company style guides and maintain brand voice and tone.
  • Promote the adoption and use of AI tools to create content and efficiencies.

External Communications

  • Craft strategic communications directed at policyholders, agents, and other external audiences.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across products and lines of business on marketing campaign strategies.
  • Contribute to development of marketing materials across multiple channels (print, digital, social media, email, web) ensuring clear, consistent, engaging communications that support brand and business goals.
  • Work with marketing to implement go-to-market communications plans for new product offerings and support campaigns for existing products and services.
  • Collaborate with internal video production to develop story boards, scripts, and coordinate film production.
  • Collaborate with internal graphics team on message development and design.

Public Relations

  • Assist in developing and implementing public relations campaigns.
  • Work with the lead public relations manager to implement integrated PR plans to publicize products, services, and executive thought leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key business and insurance trade press.
  • Coordinate media inquiries, including positioning and messaging.
  • Draft press releases, pursue awards opportunities, and monitor editorial calendars as part of the PR program.

Social Media and Campaigns

  • Support ICW Group’s social media platforms and campaign development.
  • Manage the Company’s social media accounts, ensuring regular activity and online presence.
  • Draft and manage content for approved social media accounts to promote initiatives and campaigns while strengthening engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal departments on social media campaigns and content ideas as needed.
  • May attend company events to capture photos, video, and stories for sharing on platforms.
  • Monitor social listening, track company presence, identify influencers, monitor competitors, and report sentiment to senior management as needed.
  • Track, benchmark, and analyze social media KPIs; provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have direct reports but may mentor and/or train junior team members as needed.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing, or related field; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in marketing or communications required.
  • Demonstrated experience running high-profile projects with rigorous deadlines.
  • Experience with the development of communication campaigns.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Working knowledge of internal communications and ideally B2B communications, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and other Office programs.
  • Creative ability with excellent attention to detail; strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
  • Ability to brainstorm with and without others to create content from minimal direction.
  • Ability to apply market trends and logical thinking to a wide range of projects.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer requirements and marketing documents.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Strong project management and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing tools is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Office environment with standard demands; regular sitting, walking, standing, talking, and hearing.

Work Environment

Office environment with frequent use of computer, telephone, copier, and other standard equipment.

Compensation

The current salary range for this position is $78,678.61 - $132,686.15, exclusive of benefits and potential bonuses. Final base salary will depend on factors including experience, education, and location.
