Plaid Enterprises | Atlanta, GA | Celebrating 50 Years of Creativity
Plaid Enterprises, home to iconic brands like Mod Podge, FolkArt, Apple Barrel, Bucilla, and Arteza, is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to lead the conceptualization and creation of packaging and branding that stands out on the retail shelf and wins the digital shelf.
This role is ideal for a visual storyteller who combines bold imagination with commercial savvy. You understand what makes packaging stop a shopper in the aisle, stand out on the digital shelf, and communicate a product’s story in seconds. Reporting to the Creative Director, you’ll transform insights and ideas into packaging that celebrates creativity while delivering results.
Responsibilities
- Dream big, then design smart. Conceptualize packaging and display materials that push creative boundaries while staying true to each brand’s DNA.
- Design for both shelves. Create packaging that captivates in-store and converts online, optimizing for both physical shelf presence and e-commerce imagery (PDPs, thumbnails, and banners).
- Lead projects from idea to execution. Own packaging design from concept and mockup through production-ready artwork, ensuring all assets are accurate, on time, and on brand.
- Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner closely with product development, marketing, and brand teams to translate objectives and consumer insights into compelling visual stories.
- Balance creativity with craft. Bring forward fresh ideas while honoring brand standards and real-world production requirements.
- Stay trend-aware. Keep a pulse on design, retail, and sustainability trends to continually evolve Plaid’s visual expression.
- Deliver excellence. Prepare precise, print-ready files and follow through with vendors or production partners to ensure the final product meets creative and technical expectations.
- Champion the brand. Help shape the next chapter of Plaid’s visual legacy as we celebrate 50 years of inspiring makers around the world.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field.
- 5+ years of design experience, preferably in consumer packaging or retail environments.
- Proven ability to translate strategy into compelling design concepts that work across print and digital.
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); familiarity with 3D tools (Dimension, Blender, or similar) a plus.
- Deep understanding of retail packaging strategy, shopper psychology, and brand storytelling.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- A genuine love for creativity, craftsmanship, and helping people make beautiful things.
- Knowledge with the prepress process including flexography.
