The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is seeking an Executive Producer of Live News & Original Programming to develop and run the production of long and short form video programming focused on politics and culture.

The Executive Producer will lead a breaking news team, while also driving the development of live, special news coverage and taped political news programming.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of current weekly political news shows for YouTube, FAST, Digital and Broadcast
  • Lead the production and creative for live political event coverage for YouTube, FAST, Digital and Broadcast
  • Manage and mentor producers and editors on daily breaking news hits, daily and weekly shows and special political news coverage
  • Work with the Sr EP of Hill Video to create a daily editorial news plan for all breaking news hits, shows and platforms
  • Institute best practice processes for all productions, live or taped
  • Strong control room lead, including with breaking news
  • Drive synergy between The Hill, NewsNation, Nexstar DC Bureau
  • Assist the YouTube manager in the analysis of data and metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Stay current on YouTube platform developments, trends, and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Sr EP of Hill Video

Requirements & Skills

  • Must have significant experience executive producing or as a senior supervisor for broadcast and digital in national newsroom or top market
  • Strong news judgement
  • Understanding of official Washington and national politics
  • Quick decision maker and creative thinker
  • Strong leadership skills, able to manage multiple people and projects
  • Extensive control room and studio experience in a fast‑paced, breaking news environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent broadcast writing skills
  • Superior video editing skills
  • Superior copy‑editing skills are also a must
  • Must also be capable of interacting positively and productively with other employees all while understanding you are leading by example
  • Knowledge and familiarity with newsroom technologies including Adobe Premiere, ENPS, OBS, Photoshop
  • Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work different shifts

Salary Range

$110,000 - $125,000 commensurate with experience
