The Genesis Foundation for Children is seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing & Events Manager to drive the success of our marketing initiatives and fundraising events. This role is pivotal in planning, promoting, and executing approximately 10 fundraising events annually to advance our mission of funding coordinated care for children with rare diseases and genetic disorders.
Reporting to the Director of Events, the Marketing & Events Manager will play a key role in event strategy, execution, and marketing outreach – specifically to build awareness of who we are and what we do. This position requires a results‑driven, adaptable professional who is skilled in multitasking, project and time management, and is passionate about making a tangible impact on children and families living with rare diseases.
The Genesis Foundation staff works collaboratively on ambitious fundraising goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong marketing and event management expertise, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
Hybrid Work Schedule We currently follow a hybrid work schedule, with in‑office days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with the option to work remotely on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Key Responsibilities
Event Management:
With the Director of Events, manage the planning, coordination, and on‑site execution of fundraising events including event logistics, catering, venue setup, timelines, and vendor coordination.
Lead four specific events per year, including goal setting and budgeting.
Oversee all silent auction logistics, including donation outreach, item tracking, event material creation using BidPal, and accounting administration for packages.
Implement event registration processes, monitor attendance, and manage attendee communications.
Serve as the lead liaison for third‑party fundraising events.
Provide post‑event communications including donor acknowledgments and receipts, and data entry to track impact.
Develop and track budgets for assigned events, reconciling finances with the Accounting Manager.
Process event payments and follow up on outstanding contributions.
Marketing & Communications:
Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance event attendance, donor engagement, and brand visibility.
Create and manage digital and print marketing materials, including graphic design elements.
Manage all social media, including content and image creation.
Oversee the Foundation’s website, executing all updates as necessary, ensuring compelling and informative content and images.
Produce the quarterly e‑newsletter and manage patient blog storytelling initiatives.
Spearhead mid‑year and year‑end fundraising campaigns by strategizing with DoE, creating content and marketing materials, and managing donor relations.
Implement and manage an annual marketing calendar for events and broader Foundation initiatives.
Lead two meetings per year with the Marketing Advisory Board and implement all feedback.
Stakeholder, Donor, and Volunteer Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with Board members, event attendees, donors, and sponsors.
Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers.
Manage and grow the Young Professionals Committee, overseeing their event planning, peer‑to‑peer fundraising campaigns, and engagement strategies.
Collaborate with event chairs and committee leadership to identify new event participants and funding opportunities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing, communications, or a related field.
3+ years of professional experience in event planning and marketing, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
Strong organizational and project management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, and Constant Contact strongly preferred.
Experience with event and donor management platforms such as OneCause, BidPal, Network for Good, or Salesforce is a plus.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with teams, Board members, and external partners.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Reliable vehicle access for travel to event sites, site visits, and donation pick‑ups in Boston.
Comfort with physical tasks, such as lifting event materials and setting up/breaking down event spaces.
Desire to learn and take‑on new challenges.

Therapy Program Assistance, providing individualized programs for special‑needs children to help them reach their intellectual, psychological, and physiological potential with activities such as music therapy and horseback riding.
