This position is responsible for the live directing and technical execution of PGA TOUR studio shows and segments. Responsibilities include working with producers, on‑air talent, and the control room crew to deliver polished, engaging broadcasts. This position works across platforms, directing studio content for broadcast, social and digital platforms.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Television/Film Production, Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related area
Seven years related experience as a director in live studio production, preferably in sports, news, or entertainment
Strong understanding of control room operations, multi‑camera directing, and live broadcast workflows
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
Knowledge of broadcast equipment and systems (switchers, routers, graphics engines, etc.)
Quick decision‑maker who thrives in live‑event environments, collaborative and detail‑oriented, with a commitment to production excellence
Strong writing, script/graphics editing and fact‑checking skills including grammar, style and spelling
Hands‑on experience in the different styles of single and multi‑camera shooting, lighting technique, interviewing and editing of segment material. Experience with non‑linear video editing (Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere). Experience using ENPS news production system is a plus. Familiarity with emerging technologies and best practices related to both broadcast and digital content consumption.
Strong understanding of the current content landscape, including creating content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms. A student of best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms to aid in content decisions and treatment direction.
Passion for sports and the ability to anticipate game‑related storytelling needs
Background in golf preferred; strong interest in golf required
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities/Duties
Direct live and taped studio productions, including pregame shows, analysis segments, and special features
Call camera shots, graphics, video roll‑ins, and other production elements with precision and clarity
Work with producer to create engaging studio content from concept to completion before, during and after tournaments for use on PGA TOUR digital and social platforms.
Work with technical directors, camera operators, audio engineers, and graphics staff to ensure smooth production flow
Troubleshoot and adapt quickly to technical or editorial changes during live broadcasts
Ensure compliance with TOUR broadcast standards and league brand guidelines
Participate in rundown meetings and contribute to shot planning and segment execution strategy.
Lead rehearsals, ensuring talent and crew are aligned on timing, blocking, and cues.
Provide input on camera placement, lighting, and set design to enhance production value.
Review show recordings to evaluate performance, pacing, and production quality.
Provide constructive feedback to production crew and collaborate on improvements for future broadcasts.
Archive and document show elements for future reference.
Conduct periodic employee performance feedback sessions with assigned production teams to encourage development
Maintain a strong understanding of brand tone, audience insights, and sports culture to inform content strategies and creative direction
Stay up to date on sports media trends, production technology, and emerging content formats, use golf knowledge and creativity to conceptualize and pitch content ideas
Special projects or other duties as assigned.
