Position Title: Program Director - Master of Library and Information Science Division: Academic Affairs Department/Office: MA Library Info Science Overview
St. Catherine University invites applications for a twelve (12) month, full-time Program Director position for our American Library Association-accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program. The Program Director provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and management of the MLIS program. After the initial year of a reduced teaching load of one course, the successful candidate will maintain a regular teaching load of two courses per year. This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Leadership. Work schedule is primarily remote with on-campus presence one week per month. The start date is flexible. Teaching Load: The Program Director will have a reduced teaching load of one course during the first year and two courses per year thereafter. If the individual steps back from administrative duties, the position may revert to a 9/12 teaching load, and the wage will be prorated accordingly, with no Program Director responsibilities. Responsibilities
Provide overall leadership for the MLIS program (MLIS degree and School Library Media Specialist licensure), ensuring academic excellence and alignment with professional trends and ALA accreditation standards. Lead strategic planning and future visioning in a changing higher education environment and in alignment with institutional strategic priorities. Lead curriculum development, revision, and evaluation in accordance with institutional policies/procedures and accreditor standards. Lead efforts in program evaluation, assessment, and ALA accreditation compliance. Oversee the recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty. Manage administrative staff who support the program’s operations, including recruitment, scheduling, student advising, departmental records management, and coordination of events. Oversee and administer all academic and programmatic departmental policies such as waivers, course substitutions, petitions for exceptions, transfer credit approvals, and other related matters. Work with university leadership to develop and manage the program’s budget. Identify and pursue funding opportunities in collaboration with External Engagement (SPREE) to support program initiatives and scholarships as appropriate. Collaborate with university offices (Admissions and Recruitment, Registrar, Academic Technology, and others) to ensure effective program implementation. Teach up to two graduate courses in a fully online program per academic year. Engage in scholarship in accordance with the requirements for a tenured/tenure-track faculty member. Represent the MLIS program and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including active service on committees. Benefits

Strong understanding of strategic planning, program evaluation and administration, curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation processes. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students. Experience with ALA accreditation processes and accredited program requirements. Teaching experience in an MLIS program. Excellent organizational, budget management, and communication skills. Ability to foster partnerships with external organizations and stakeholders. Experience working with online, hybrid, or innovative learning formats. Active involvement in professional organizations and a record of scholarly publications or presentations. Experience with grant writing and external funding procurement.
