We have a great opportunity for a Web Communications Specialist II to join our MarCom Team! The duties include designs, writes, edits, and develops creative solutions to make the web ecosystem dynamic and attractive to students and other audiences. Proofs all CEHD websites and other items in the web ecosystem. Researches and implements best practices across all websites. Ensures that all websites follow college and university brand guidelines, and meet accessibility requirements. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of related experience in web development, marketing, or a related field

Required Licenses and Certifications

None

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Four to seven years of related experience working in web design.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of both Macintosh and PC systems.

Knowledge of WordPress and other CMS platforms used on campus.

Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and accessibility best practices.

Knowledge of graphic design for electronic mediums.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Website Content Maintenance

Manages, writes, edits, and audits web content for clarity and accuracy. Proofs all College of Education and Human Development websites and other items in the web ecosystem. Uses appropriate tools to regularly audit all college webpages for accessibility. Maintains brand standards for both college and university. Helps supervise student workers and manages WordPress training for end users.

Website Tool Development & Analytics Maintenance

Responsible for aiding in the development of themes and templates used on the College of Education and Human Development websites. Also responsible for developing custom tools to be used across the web ecosystem. Maintains site analytics and stays current on evolving best practices in SEO and AI SEO. Researches new tools and trends to keep the web ecosystem engaging to audiences.

General Duties

Assists in the development of communications plans for the marketing and communications team. Assists with special events as needed. Works with vendors to create fiscally responsible plans for upgrades in the web ecosystem. Performs other duties as assigned.
