Piping & Equipment Layout Lead Designer
Job Description Summary:
The Piping & Equipment Layout Lead Designer is a skilled professional with experience in all aspects of piping design and equipment layout, capable of leading projects of various sizes. This role involves creating piping design, equipment layout and equipment stack-up drawings, interfacing with other engineering disciplines, interacting directly with clients and performing field design work.
PLEASE NOTE:
We do NOT design any residential, commercial, or retail projects. Successful candidates will have INDUSTRIAL design experience. This is also a HYBRID position and remote candidates cannot be considered. Relocation assistance is offered on a case-by-case basis.

Overall responsibility for the piping design and equipment layout work on assigned projects
Oversee design work performed by junior-level designers on the project
Produce equipment layout, piping orthographic and isometric drawings
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and clients
Prepare and monitor piping work hour estimates for projects
Lead 3D model reviews with clients at various project engineering stages
Develop piping cost estimates for different project stage gates (front-end loading)
Perform field work by obtaining information, making field sketches, and verifying drawings
Accepts other duties as assigned
Qualifications – Education/Experience
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of piping design and equipment layout experience in one or more of the following sectors: Chemical, Polymer, Refining, Power
An associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology preferred
Experience in Consulting Engineering is desirable
Proficient in 3D piping design; experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks is a plus
Eligibility Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
Authorizes a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background
Submits to a drug test post offer
Possesses a valid driver’s license
Accepts that this position may require some domestic overnight travel
Willingness to commute to office location at least 3 days per week
Ability to collaborate with others in an on-site, team environment
Demonstrate reliable, consistent, and punctual work-site attendance
Ability to utilize the required technology such as computers, phones, and tablets to complete job duties
Must be an organized, self-starter who can independently manage time effectively
Have the ability to handle varying workloads and the variable stress-levels associated with said workload
Ability to meet the quality and productivity standards required by the company
Location On-site in Akron, OH with hybrid schedule option

Pay $85K-100K (Salary, but will earn for any hours worked over 40/week)
