Job Title: Mechanical Designer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in SolidWorks 3D modeling and a solid understanding of mechanical design principles. This role involves creating and revising detailed mechanical designs, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and supporting the development of innovative solutions for industrial and manufacturing applications.

Responsibilities

Develop and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.

Collaborate with engineers to design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.

Interpret technical specifications, sketches, and customer requirements.

Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Participate in design reviews and provide input on manufacturability and cost‑effectiveness.

Maintain organized documentation and revision control of design files.

Support prototyping, testing, and production processes as needed.

Essential Skills

3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Designer.

Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling and AutoCAD.

Experience in mechanical engineering and drafting.

Strong experience in manufacturing or a production environment.

Experience in new product development, CAD, weldment, and sheet metal design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience from concept to completion within 3D modeling.

Knowledge of BOM, FEA, and FEA analysis.

Work Environment The candidate will have the opportunity to work with a team of engineers in a flexible environment with core hours from 9 AM to 3 PM. All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided. The role involves working 10% on machine‑related designs and 90% on product‑related designs such as platforms and skids.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $40.00/hr.
