About the role: John A. Marshall Company is seeking a
Design Manager
to lead our talented team of interior designers in creating high-quality, human-centered workplace solutions. In this leadership role, you will guide the design process from concept through installation, ensuring each project reflects our design philosophy, meets client objectives, and aligns with sales strategies.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and support a team of interior designers, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
Manage workload distribution, quality assurance, and performance evaluations.
Cultivate a design culture grounded in innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Design Management
Oversee the development of workplace solutions using CET Designer, AutoCAD, and other visualization tools.
Ensure all design proposals are accurate, functional, and aligned with client goals and building constraints.
Maintain expert knowledge of MillerKnoll product lines (Herman Miller, Knoll, Geiger, etc.) and application standards.
Client & Sales Collaboration
Partner with account executives on client discovery, site visits, and proposal development.
Participate in client presentations, offering design leadership and expert product insights.
Translate client brand, culture, and workstyles into space plans that support organizational objectives.
Project Oversight
Ensure all design specifications are accurate, code-compliant, and production-ready.
Oversee design revisions and documentation throughout each project’s lifecycle.
Process & Quality Control
Uphold dealership design standards, documentation protocols, and best practices.
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
Stay current with MillerKnoll training, certifications, and new product launches.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Interior Design .
5+ years of
commercial furniture design experience , preferably within a MillerKnoll dealership or similar environment.
Previous
management or team leadership experience .
Advanced proficiency in
CET Designer (Configura), AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite .
Strong skills in
space planning, design presentation, and project coordination .
Excellent
communication and collaboration
abilities with internal teams and clients.
Working Conditions
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (one-hour lunch break).
Hybrid work model:
4 days in-office, 1 day remote per week.
Occasional travel
for client meetings, MillerKnoll training, or manufacturer events.
Fast-paced, collaborative
dealership environment with multiple concurrent projects.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary:
$85,800 – $98,800 (paid weekly, in arrears).
Performance-based bonuses
and
relocation allowance
available.
Comprehensive benefits package , including:

on the first 6% deferred.
