Base Pay
Minimum base pay starts at $17.40 per hour, with higher starting pay available based on experience.
Purpose
Floor & Decor Designers provide a seamless start‑to‑finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with customers. Designers meet with customers, listen to their project needs, educate them on all that is required, and build a creative design concept that incorporates the customer’s personal style, lifestyle, and budget.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum of one year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience
- Degree in Design is a plus
- Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
- Proficient in basic mathematical skills
- Self‑motivated and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
- Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position
Essential Functions
- Greet store customers in a helpful manner and support in‑store design walk‑in needs.
- Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, developing clientele through networking, referrals, and store leads.
- Provide tile, wood, stone, and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects.
- Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
- Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and follow‑up; maintain consistent and concise communication to customers and others.
- Collaborate, partner, and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals.
- Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
- Engage in current and emerging design trends in the market.
- Responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications (e.g., Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Limited travel may be required by car.
- Employee frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles; noise level typically moderate to noisy.
Physical/Sensory Requirements
- Medium work: Ability to exert 20‑50 pounds of force occasionally, 10‑25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Requires use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Pickup Hours
Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
