Assistant Professor Systems & Discovery Librarian - SE Louisiana University's Sims Memorial Library

Southeastern Louisiana University's Sims Memorial Library invites applications for the full-time tenure-track assistant professor position of Systems & Discovery Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Cataloging, the Systems & Discovery Librarian is responsible for the administration of the Library Services Platform (LSP) and will lead the migration from SirsiDynix Symphony to Ex Libris Alma/Primo. The position will also serve as primary sys-admin liaison to the LOUIS Consortium (which entails biannual travel to other cities within the state). In addition the Systems Librarian will perform configuration and customization needed in the Alma/Primo system; manage future upgrades; serve as a liaison with the University Office of Technology on LSP related matters; and work with the alternate system administrator to provide technical support & training to Library staff on the use of Alma, and other technologies. Other duties will include serving as liaison to selected academic departments, and fulfilling all accomplishments & professional activity required for tenure and promotion.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master degree from an ALA accredited library or information science program

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of library experience. Proficiency using Integrated Library Systems, and discovery interfaces. Knowledge of the organization & description of library collections. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and with attention to detail. Interest in learning new tools and skills to support library services

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Strong technical skills, including experience with administration of integrated library systems & discovery systems. Ability to create and use complex spreadsheets. Knowledge of current trends & technologies related to library services. Ability to prioritize & organize complex workflows. Academic Library experience
