Qualifications: State of Oregon Teaching License with Music K-12 endorsement, and current First Aid Card.
Compensation: Salary and stipends will be prorated based on FTE and start/end dates of the position.
- 2025-2026 Annual Salary Range $30,258 - $59,927 (Based on 192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on education and contracted licensed experience.
- As a licensed employee, you are eligible to receive a specialty stipend of $1,145 if certified Multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, or Russian. Must pass a standardized proficiency test of language.
Job Summary: The teacher will develop students’ music appreciation and skills through implementing district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, developing lesson plans, addressing specific educational needs of students, providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assess student musical skills and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, goals, etc.
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions and plan curriculum.
- Demonstrate methods required to perform assignments for modeling skills necessary for safe and accurate task performance.
- Instruct students to improve their music appreciation and skills (voice and instrumentation).
- Maintain musical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure availability.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Prepare teaching materials and reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to implement lesson plans and document progress.
- Report incidents (fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain safety and comply with policies.
- Support classroom teachers and other staff in implementing classroom goals and individual student plans.
- Plan concerts and recitals to showcase student performances.
Other Job Functions:
- Assist other personnel as required to support completion of their activities.
- Participate in meetings (parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) to exchange information and meet credential requirements.
- Advise parents and legal guardians on student progress to support teaching expectations and reinforce classroom goals.
Essential Job Requirements "Qualifications":
- Prior job related experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Motivate students in music, communicate with diverse individuals, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.
- Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies, musical instruction and instrumentation.
- Ability to stand and walk, perform specialized tasks, maintain records, establish cooperative relationships, meet schedules and deadlines, physical abilities as described.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
- Teaching Credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
- Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
