About the Role
The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its library system. The successful candidate will be a communicative and collaborative leader, serving as a consensus builder and library advocate. This role involves presenting visionary executive functions while maintaining a strong presence and understanding of day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include conferring with the Board on policies and long-range planning, preparing reports on various library aspects, and overseeing the library's budget and funding sources. The Executive Director will also be involved in strategic planning, community engagement, and fostering partnerships at local, county, and state levels. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company's library system must have a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory or administrative librarian role. The role requires the completion of Pennsylvania Professional Librarian Certification within six months of hire. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in library management, staff development, and policy compliance. They should be adept at fostering public and media relations, as well as leading the management team in goal setting and innovation. The Executive Director will also be responsible for ensuring workplace safety, enforcing patron behavior policies, and maintaining professional knowledge through ongoing training and conference participation.
