Job Title: Senior Industrial Designer
Antioch, IL and Columbus, OH based large consumer outdoor products company specializing in outdoor products is seeking a candidate with Industrial and Product Development design capabilities to join the in‑house design team.
Responsibilities
Product design from start to finish including sketching, CAD work, and engineering/mechanical drawings in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
Photorealistic product renderings on white backgrounds and various interior and exterior environments using Blender and Rhinoceros 3D, including 3D spinning images for web.
Develop a cohesive style across a variety of products and materials such as metal, plastic, and wood.
Graphic design tasks including package design, literature and catalog layouts, and trade show banners.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Photo retouching skills and basic photography knowledge.
Manage time and resources to meet critical deadlines.
Communicate and collaborate effectively; experience working with overseas factories in China and India is a plus.
Act as a project manager in this category, supporting the sales team with creative assistance and becoming knowledgeable of competitive products in the marketplace; report to the Vice President of Marketing & Product Development and Senior Management to create innovative new products.
Qualifications
5-10 years of relevant work experience with CAD experience.
Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD program (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, etc.) and willingness to learn the company’s specific CAD tools.
Adobe Creative Suite required (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom) with additional design software proficiency as a plus.
Ability to use Apple OS computers with the Windows emulator for SolidWorks.
BFA degree required; portfolio samples of graphic and industrial design work.
Familiarity with outdoor products (garden, bird/nature, patio furniture) is highly desirable.
