Software UI Engineer – Cloud‑Native Observability Platform
We are the Catalyst Center Platforms and Capabilities team, responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high‑productivity cloud‑native infrastructure and PaaS capabilities that power thousands of enterprise customers. Our mission is to drive Cisco’s digital infrastructure transformation through platform innovation. One of our key initiatives is a cloud‑native observability platform purpose‑built for Cisco Catalyst Center deployments—bridging on‑premises network infrastructure with modern cloud observability practices to deliver comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and remediation capabilities.
Base Pay Range $165,000 – $241,400 per year
Location San Jose, CA
What You’ll Do We're looking for a Software UI Engineer to take ownership of building and shaping the user experience for our next‑generation cloud‑native observability platform. In this role, you'll design and develop intuitive, high‑performance interfaces that bring powerful observability and analytics capabilities to life, including:
Policy‑driven metrics and log collection from Catalyst Center appliances
Real‑time telemetry processing and intelligent correlation
Comprehensive alerting infrastructure with integrated runbooks
Centralized dashboards and visualizations for unified monitoring
Cross‑system correlation and root‑cause analysis experiences
Required Qualifications
8+ years of full‑stack development experience with a focus on data visualization and web applications
Experience with Go programming language for backend development and data processing
Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and data integration patterns
Knowledge of modern web development practices including responsive design and performance optimization
Experience with time‑series databases such as Prometheus, InfluxDB, or similar systems
Knowledge of log aggregation systems like Elasticsearch/OpenSearch or similar platforms
Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) including data services like S3, Athena
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
Familiarity with Linux environments and command‑line tools
Qualities that Will Help You Succeed
Understanding of monitoring and observability concepts (metrics, logs, traces)
Previous experience with Grafana dashboard creation and management (highly valued but not required)
Knowledge of Grafana plugin development or similar extensible visualization platforms
Experience with monitoring platforms like Prometheus, Datadog, or New Relic
Understanding of SLI/SLO frameworks and reliability engineering practices
