Senior UX Designer – New York City, NY (Day 1 Onsite – Only Locals)
Job Type: Contract | Pay Rate: $50–$60/hr
Join the Credit Risk Migration Project as a Senior UX Designer. You will lead the user‑centred design of next‑generation credit risk platforms, translating complex risk models and legacy workflows into intuitive, efficient, and accessible experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end‑to‑end UX design for the large‑scale migration of credit risk applications from legacy systems to modern web platforms.
Conduct user research, contextual interviews, and usability testing with credit risk stakeholders to uncover pain points and drive design decisions.
Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high‑fidelity visual designs in Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD, aligned with BNY design system guidelines.
Create user journeys, personas, storyboards, and information architecture diagrams that simplify complex risk processes and data visualisations.
Collaborate closely with Product Management, Data Engineering, and Architecture teams to ensure designs align with technical constraints and business objectives.
Define and maintain component libraries, style guides, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) to ensure consistency and inclusivity.
Facilitate design workshops, co‑creation sessions, and design sprints to accelerate discovery and validate solutions iteratively.
Partner with frontend developers (Angular, React) to implement pixel‑perfect UI and support agile delivery practices (Kanban, Scrum).
Advocate for user needs and champion user‑centred design principles within the Risk Tech community.
Work within Agile teams to deliver features aligned with business priorities.
Required Qualifications
10 years of UX/UI design experience with at least 4 years on enterprise‑scale financial or risk management applications.
Proven track record leading UX design for large data‑driven platforms, ideally in credit risk, compliance, or trading domains.
Expertise in user research methodology, information architecture, interaction design, and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD).
Strong visual design skills: typography, colour theory, data visualisation best practices, iconography, and grid systems.
Experience working in agile teams partnering with product owners, engineers, and QA to iterate designs in two‑week sprints.
Solid understanding of front‑end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript frameworks to enable close collaboration with developers.
Excellent facilitation, presentation, and storytelling skills to articulate design rationale to senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with accessibility standards WCAG and inclusive design best practices.
Skills
Mandatory: FIGMA, Axure, Sketch, Interaction Design, Zeplin, Design systems, Platform Experience Design, UX Pressia, Adobe XD.
Good to Have: Adobe XD.
