Purpose and Scope The Student Assistant performs standard administrative duties for multiple individuals or customers. Activities are routine and may be repetitive. Basic duties include receiving and logging information, making copies, sorting and distributing mail, preparing correspondence or basic documents, answering routine questions and inquiries, providing information and directions, and creating a customer‑ environment.

Essential Job Functions

Operate office equipment such as computer, printer, photocopier, fax machine, scanner, or calculator.

Open, sort, and distribute mail for one or more managers.

Perform clerical tasks related to departmental projects, including typing and proofreading letters, memorandums, forms, and reports.

Maintain and file department documents.

Assist with the distribution of information to the public, students, and faculty by phone, mail, or other appropriate means.

Provide support during college representation functions.

Maintain confidentiality of all records and databases.

Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to learn the rules and procedures of the college.

Ability to maintain good relationships with the public, students, faculty, and staff.

Professional presence in dress, speaking, handwriting, and use of personal cell phone during working hours.

Physical Abilities The work is sedentary. The employee may walk, stand, bend, carry light items such as papers or small parts. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment: PC workstation on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.

Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.

Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.

Must be a currently enrolled Lone Star student pursuing a course of study.

Compensation Hourly Pay Rate: $7.25.
