Position Summary The Communications Designer (Specialist I) plays a key role in crafting visual and written content that supports internal and external communications initiatives. This position is responsible for developing compelling graphics, digital assets, presentations, and promotional materials that align with the organization’s brand and messaging strategies. The Specialist collaborates closely with marketing and leadership teams to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging designs that drive understanding, engagement, and action.

Planning & Execution

– Follow brand standards in coordination with the Design Manager to ensure that all tactics and campaigns cohesively communicate the brand strategy. Conceptualize and design across multiple platforms including print, digital, social and outdoor signage to create marketing programs spanning from in‑store signage to digital assets and billboards.

Collaboration & Leadership

– Partner with brand marketing to develop marketing communication that brings our business and brand to life through compelling brand‑storytelling initiatives and value‑driven campaigns.

Operational Excellence

– Maintain consistency in design throughout all creative development based on the marketing brief and brand standards. Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, animation, and video editing platforms for designing advertisements that can span social media, digital ads and email. Leverage knowledge of lighting, cameras and art direction to lead photoshoots and source authentic stock images. Handle multiple projects at once, follow developed processes and manage all aspects of the projects to meet deadlines. Be detail‑oriented and communicate ideas clearly to internal/external customers. Use current design trends, strong typography, and program knowledge of Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects), Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

What You Will Bring

3‑5 years of professional graphic design experience

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field

Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign, After Effects and other graphic design software

Strong knowledge of graphic fundamentals, typography, branding, print and web

Familiarity with email design, animation and video editing

Experience designing campaign tactics across multiple mediums

Strong analytical skills and excellent eye for detail

Compelling portfolio of work across a wide range of creative projects

Salary $68,325 – $91,000 Salary for this level is a general guideline only and is not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation may vary based on responsibilities, education, experience, skills and internal equity. We cannot sponsor employment visas.

Location: On‑site at the Giant Food Headquarters in Hyattsville, MD.
