$19.97 Position Summary

We are currently seeking Teaching Artists to support school-year camps and classes. We are considering applications on a rolling basis, and hiring as needed. Teaching Artists provide professional arts instruction for students ages 3.5 – 18 and receive teaching assignments within a wide variety of programming that SCT provides, including workshops and residencies in schools and community centers as well as classes and camps at the theatre or a partnership location. Teaching artists should have experience in developing and executing theatre education curriculum (acting, musical theatre, movement/dance, improv, physical comedy, stage makeup, creative drama), classroom management skills, and have reliable transportation. Teaching Artists receive class assignments on a rolling basis through our Drama School, Engagement, and School programs dependent on expertise, demand, availability and program schedule. Teaching Artists may be asked to provide mentorship and support for our emerging professionals, which include interns, classroom assistants, apprentice and fellows. About SCT

Provides culturally responsive instruction for students Provides professional teaching artistry for all assigned classes, camps, workshops, and/or residencies Uses positive classroom management techniques for all students Develops, writes, evaluates, and implements curriculum on behalf of SCT programs Prepares classroom and materials prior to the start of class or workshop Collaborates and communicates with other teaching artists and educators Communicates and builds rapport with students, guardians, staff, teachers, and stakeholders Maintains accurate records as required, including attendance and student medical and emergency information Represents education programs at SCT and in the larger community Mentors interns, classroom assistants, apprentices, and fellows Attends professional development opportunities Attends faculty and orientation meetings Collaborates with program manager(s) Other duties as assigned Desired Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of two years of work experience in related field Minimum of one-year experience teaching theatre education with youth Preferred candidates with experience working with all ages or interest in learning Strong classroom management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Commitment to cultural awareness in the classroom is highly valued Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are highly valued Instructional knowledge for students with physical and developmental disabilities is highly valued Ability to pass a full background check Reliable mode of transportation for school residencies and workshops Must be available for orientation and training Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Teaching Artists receive two hourly wage types. Instructional Hours (active teaching time) range from $30 - $50 per hour and are scaled to candidate’s experience. Non-instructional (prep) time is compensated at hourly minimum wage. Hours vary depending on assignment. Mostly Monday – Friday schedule, with some Saturday programming. Compensation Policy

To strengthen structural pay equity, SCT practices negotiation-free salary processes with all current and potential staff members. Positions are graded in accordance with the scope and range of “Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications” listed in the job description. Salary range for grade levels are determined by market via third-party compensation study. Benefits
