The Role

  • Develop, design, and update visual work instructions and 3D‑based documentation used by production teams.
  • Translate engineering drawings, models, and specifications into clear visual guidance and step‑by‑step instructions.
  • Capture and integrate photos, illustrations, and schematics to support manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and trade experts to ensure documentation accuracy and technical compliance.
  • Use digital tools and visualization software to create and maintain technical publications and visual aids.
  • Review and revise documentation based on feedback from production and quality teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance communication and process understanding.
  • Analyze digital design data and utilize these products in conjunction with build plans to create quality and accurate Visual Work Instructions (VWIs). Interpret and add design elements to meet manufacturing and installation requirements.
  • Utilize CAD equipment and graphic tools such as Teamcenter, NX, SAP, NGP and TDP.
  • Advise management on status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client‑satisfaction goals and objectives.

Must Have

  • Associate’s Degree in a relevant field and 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalents to an Associate’s Degree:
    • NNS Apprentice School graduate.
    • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
    • High School/GED and 2 years of related manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience.
    • High School/GED and 4 years of non‑related manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge in technical illustration, drafting, visual communication, or related field.
  • Experience with CAD, 3D modeling, or visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with shipbuilding, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Strong problem‑solving and teamwork skills.
