ECS is seeking a Technical Writer to work in our Dayton, OH office. This position is contingent upon contract award. The Air Force (AF) Reliability and Maintainability Information System (REMIS) requires full software development lifecycle activities to preserve and enhance service capabilities in support of United States warfighters worldwide. REMIS provides organizational, intermediate and depot level operational authoritative information for all AF weapon systems worldwide. ECS will perform all technical and operational support for REMIS which will require expertise in large-scale systems engineering, development, integration, and operational processes. ECS is looking for an experienced Technical Writer who creates high-quality, user-friendly documentation to support software development, deployment, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Write and update technical materials, user manuals, and help screens.
- Ensure documentation reflects current system capabilities and is easy to understand.
- Collaborate with teams to gather information and integrate updates into the Agile development process.
- Maintain a documentation library and track changes.
- Support automated testing and ensure documentation meets quality standards.
- Assist with software release processes and maintain configuration management.
- Provide support during crises and ensure essential services continue.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing, including 3 years in the Department of Defense.
- Active Secret (or higher) security clearance.
- Strong technical background and understanding of software development.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Experience with automated testing and configuration management.
