About This Role
The Aircraft Mechanic maintains ATAC aircraft and supports safe, expeditious launch and recovery flight‑line operations at permanent and detachment sites.
Responsibilities
Maintain aircraft in support of company commitments.
Proficient in one type/model aircraft; assist with additional types.
Utilize AMS program and train maintenance personnel.
Manage assigned maintenance programs.
Coordinate detachment requirements with Crew Chiefs as necessary.
Obtain and maintain Detachment Lead qualification.
Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls.
Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging and surface controls.
Perform 100‑hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories; perform pre‑flight, thru‑flight, and post‑flight inspections.
Apply technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
Prioritize workload to maintain project schedules.
Assist as directed by the Production Supervisor and Crew Chiefs.
Manage programs as assigned.
Primary Objectives
Ensure safety of the workforce.
Maintain high‑quality maintenance during each action.
Develop and train Apprentice Aviation Mechanics.
Foster a maintenance team environment.
Commit to ongoing personal development.
Lead by example.
Qualifications
A+P certification or at least 5 years of military aircraft maintenance equivalency.
Ability to perform unsupervised complex maintenance actions and hold or have held a QAR qualification, engine turn qualification, or advanced troubleshooting experience.
Manage additional collateral programs and train junior mechanics on aircraft systems, GOPs, and safety practices.
Competent in use of specialized tooling and/or test equipment and supervise aircraft servicing.
Performance monitored by supervision and reviewed annually.
Able to lift 50 lbs, climb in and out of the aircraft, and stand for long periods.
