UI Health - Administrative Nurse I-Arthritis & Kidney Clinic Location: Chicago, IL, USA Posting Date: 11/5/2025 FTE: 1 Work Schedule: 40 hours weekly, Days Shift

Salary: $40.53/hr to $88.53/hr (within the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and budget constraints)

Requirements: Illinois residency within 180 days of hire date. Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required.

Position Summary Administrative Nurse I directs patient care, unit activities, and staff on the assigned shift using the Nursing Process and Relationship‑Based Care model. The role facilitates workflow, staff scheduling, and ensures quality patient care and unit goals.

Responsibilities

Complete required orientation and unit competencies.

Provide direct patient care, assign patient care assignments, and adjust assignments as needed.

Review staff schedules and coordinate breaks/lunches to maintain continuity of patient care.

Direct workflow to facilitate timely patient care.

Act as a resource for unit personnel, resolving questions related to policy, standards, and procedures.

Demonstrate critical thinking, conflict management, and customer service skills.

Engage support personnel per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provide support and feedback.

Recognize and respond to patient care issues, offering direction, feedback, and follow‑up to staff, manager, and team members.

Contribute feedback to performance evaluation of unit personnel.

Procure necessary clinical supplies and equipment; follow up on repairs/maintenance as needed.

Build collaborative relationships with physicians to promote teamwork.

Maintain awareness of all patients’ status to assist nursing and medical team members.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership & Professional Development

Advocate for patients, families, the community, and the nursing profession.

Integrate evidence‑based research and current standards of practice to provide quality patient care.

Support Shared Leadership and participate in governing council activities.

Maintain RN licensure, BLS, and other unit‑specific certifications.

Provide feedback to the health‑care team regarding performance and practice.

Adhere to UI Health Code of Conduct, attendance policies, and electronic learning requirements.

Support unit‑based quality initiatives and nursing research efforts.

Reporting Structure The role works independently within nursing scope. The Director acts as a coach and mentor, providing guidance and feedback. Performance is evaluated annually in writing and more frequently as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Registered RN license in Illinois.

One year of RN experience.

Current AHA BLS/CPR and required unit‑specific certifications.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Intermediate computer skills; proficiency in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on‑the‑job training.

Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.

3‑5 years nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

2 years core charge RN experience in ambulatory care.

Previous infusion experience.

Self‑directed, teamwork skills, and sound clinical judgment.
