The Packaging Designer will be a critical member of the Shorr sales organization and further establish Shorr as a value-added supplier to our customers. In this role, you will conceptualize and create custom corrugated designs as well as support Sales, Design Lead and Design Team by cutting samples, creating CAPE Reports and providing overall Design support.

Responsibilities

• Design simple corrugated designs for Sales.
• Design samples using Artios CAD software and create samples on our state‑of‑the‑art Kongsberg design table.
• Cut samples from Design Lead and other Shorr Design centers.
• Prepare palletization and other miscellaneous reports utilizing CAPE software.
• Prepare drawings and written instructions to be used for estimating purposes.
• Prepare and design samples of corrugated packaging for customers by establishing dimension from actual items or other information provided.
• Assist customers to develop new and innovative concepts for packaging.
• Interact and collaborate with designers in other Shorr locations.
• Order and maintain all design room supplies.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree related to CAD or mechanical drafting/design or equivalent related experience required.
• Experience using AutoCAD or Artios CAD software required.
• Knowledge of point-of-purchase (POP) and industrial corrugated packaging experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ASTM, TAPPI and ISTA standards desired.
