Part-Time Library Support – Caille and Oak View Branches

The City of Sioux Falls, Siouxland Libraries is accepting applications for Part-Time Library Support at the Caille and Oak View Branches. Two positions are available.

Schedule: weekend and evening rotation, 3–16 hours per week.

Siouxland Libraries seeks passionate and service-oriented individuals to join as Library Support Staff. The role is about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where every guest feels valued. Engage with a diverse community, provide exceptional customer service and help guests navigate library resources with warmth and professionalism.

We look for team players who thrive in a collaborative setting and take pride in fostering a culture of learning, connection, and hospitality. Strong communication and computer skills are essential, as well as the ability to assist with the physical aspects of library operations, including lifting and moving materials (30–50 lbs.), pushing book carts and remaining active throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and friendly customer service to all library guests.
  • Assist guests in locating and using library resources and services.
  • Support library operations, including lifting and moving materials (3050 lbs.) and operating book carts.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming library environment.
  • Promote library programs, services, and events to the community.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience working in a community or customer service setting.
  • Positive, energetic, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and respectful library environment.
