Job Description And Duties

Under the direction of the Classification & Parole Representative (C&PR), this Assistant C&PR – Transportation position is responsible for conducting specialized program assignments. The role provides population statistics to CIM Administration, Statewide Transportation Unit (STU), Population Management Unit (PMU), Classification Services Unit (CSU) and Division of Adult Parole Operations. Responsibilities include ordering CDCR bus seats for the CIM‑endorsed IPs, maintaining daily and weekly updated Advanced Transfer System reports, updating the monitor and tracking all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Armstrong Disability Placement Program (DPP) and Clark Developmental Disability Placement (DDP) IPs in the Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS), monitoring Out‑to‑Court (OTC) returns, and IPs arriving for OTC purposes. The Assistant C&PR also ensures all IPs housed in the OHU Mental Health Crisis Bed (MHCB) are moved within the timeframes per Mental Health Services Delivery System, expediting discharges from the Outpatient Housing Unit (OHU), arranging special transports for IPs requiring Department of State Hospital (DSH) placement, monitoring CIM’s Restricted Housing Unit (RHU), reviewing the Weekly Send/Intake Report to avoid inappropriate housing and overcrowding, and tracking endorsement transfers. Additionally, the position assists with Warden’s Checkout Orders, responds to inquiries from judges, attorneys, probation officers, institutions and other parties regarding program suitability, and monitors send/ intake for consistent movement of IPs. The Assistant C&PR supports the Offender with Mental Health Disorder (OMHD) / Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) and Board of Parole Hearing Process by serving OMHD documents, reviewing OMHD and SVP criteria, tracking OMHD/SVP cases, and coordinating interviews with DSH doctors. When absent, the Assistant C&PR attends C&PR meetings, committees, conference calls, monitors records, disseminates information, and reviews Warden Checkout Orders. The CCII Specialist assists the C&PR with all other duties as assigned.

Eligibility and Assignment

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.

Contract Terms

Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Location

California Institution for Men, Chino, San Bernardino County, CA. The facility is a Level II Non‑Designated Programming Facility (NDPF) centrally located near Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties, with an on‑site fitness center for staff and convenient access to the 91 and 60 highways.
