Requirements: Must have NYS Certification as a Teaching Assistant - Level I, Level II or Level III or have NYS certification as a teacher
We strongly welcome candidates with the following qualifications:
Library experience preferred
A willingness to learn and grow
Physical stamina to lift and bend
Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System
A love of reading and commitment to information literacy
Exemplify the WCSD vision, Core Beliefs, and Essential Skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Facility with computers; proficiency with Google Workspace for Education preferred
A friendly, flexible disposition and desire to create a safe, welcoming environment for all students
Adherence to the American Library Association ethical standards around intellectual freedom and confidentiality
Responsibilities:
Check books in and out
Help students locate library materials
Maintain accurate attendance records
Fill and generate interlibrary loan requests
Collect and report data on resource use
Generate, deliver, and follow up on overdue notices
Shelve books using Dewey Decimal classification
Answer the phone and direct library inquiries
Process new books and repair damaged books
Move around the library to actively supervise students.
Check in book and supply orders and assist in generating new orders
Assist in the design and execution of physical and digital library displays and promotions
Assist students in navigating the library catalog, databases, Ebook collection, and multimedia collection
Salary: As per current Educational Support Association Agreement (ESA) as well as education and experience
