Job Summary The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Tutoring Services department on the Gainesville campus. The writing peer consultant is responsible for tutoring students in university-level composition and grammar and assisting students, faculty, and staff with services provided by the Gainesville Writing Center.
Responsibilities
Read student essays and make suggestions for improvement in content development, organization, formatting, style, and grammar/mechanics.
Explain instructor comments/corrections on students’ assignments.
Conduct workshops related to composition.
Assist in the general operation of the Writing Center, including recording session notes.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Effectively present information/work with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret student compositions, literature, and scholarship.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Required Qualifications
Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
Experience with Microsoft Office software, especially Word.
