The Social Media Coordinator will support the execution of MaryRuth's social media strategy across all platforms, reporting directly to the Director of Social & Content. This LA-based role will be the day-to-day driver of content planning, posting, community engagement, and creative execution, helping to bring MaryRuth's brand story to life across all social channels. A key part of this role includes in-person filming and content creation with MaryRuth herself, as well as working in-person supporting capturing social-first content at our LA office, on set, or during brand activations. The ideal candidate is a creative, organized, and social-savvy storyteller who thrives both behind and in front of the camera, understands trends across TikTok and Instagram, and can move fast while maintaining brand consistency.

This is a full-time (40 hr/wk), salaried, non-exempt, remote position, but candidates must be in the Los Angeles, California area and able to commute to Los Angeles for in-person filming and content creation as needed.

The compensation range for this role is $60,000 to $75,000 USD/year.

Responsibilities

  • Social Media Coordination
    • Support the Director of Social & Content in executing MaryRuth's organic social strategy across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms through regular posting, scheduling, tagging, and coordination of social content.
    • Maintain the content calendar and ensure deliverables are organized, labeled, and scheduled on time.
    • Monitor comments and engagement across platforms, flagging key insights or responses for the Director or marketing team; track real-time trends and make proactive recommendations on how MaryRuth's can participate authentically.
    • Assist with reporting on engagement metrics and performance indicators.
  • Content Creation & Filming
    • Capture and edit short-form video and photo content for MaryRuth's social platforms, both organic and for potential cross-use in paid, ensuring brand consistency across all content.
    • Film and produce content with MaryRuth directly (in her home, on location, or in-office).
    • Manage shoot prep and logistics, including scripts, props, set-up, and on-site coordination.
    • Edit clips, apply captions, and ensure that all content aligns with platform best practices and any relevant compliance regulations.
    • Help brainstorm and test new content formats, trends, and series that drive engagement and brand connection.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with the Brand, Growth, and Influencer teams to coordinate creative assets and campaign launches.
    • Partner with the Live Streaming Specialist for social content around TikTok Shops and live activations.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Other tasks as assigned.
    • Travel/commuting (~20%) will be required on as an-needed basis, with notice provided to the employee.
Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of experience in social media coordination, content creation, or digital marketing; strong experience in TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms required.
  • Must be based in the Los Angeles area and available for regular in-person filming sessions with MaryRuth and the team.
  • Proven experience creating short-form content (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts) that drives engagement; comfort filming, directing, and occasionally appearing on camera.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, audio, memes, and emerging content formats.
  • Proficient in, at minimum, basic reporting and analytics- Excel, dashboards, etc.
  • Comfortable using editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills with strong attention to detail; project management experience strongly preferred, especially with the usage of tools such as Asana, Monday, or Trello.
  • Passionate about health, wellness, and storytelling that connects people to purpose-driven brands.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
