Primary Purpose :
Assist librarian in the administration of the campus library. Perform routine library duties under direct supervision. Adhere to district library policies and procedures.
Education/Certification :
Must have completed two years of college (48+ college hours) or obtained an Associate's Degree
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to shelve books following district cataloging system
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with students, staff, parents and school community
Experience:
One-year experience working with children
One-year clerical experience

Technical Skills, Responsibilities, and Duties
In PSJA ISD, we hire individuals who demonstrate excellence in these technical areas as they lead others.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Library Program Support Provide individual instruction and assistance in using library media center resources including computers and audiovisual equipment. Shelve incoming books, materials, and equipment. Ready materials for classroom or reserve collection use as requested by teachers. Request and process interlibrary loans. Prepare bulletin boards and displays and assist the librarian in preparing instructional materials. May read to small groups of students and listen to individual students read aloud. Assist with and participate in library events and programs. Accounting and Inventory Operate the media center automated circulation system. Collect and maintain records of student fines, overdue notices and prepare parent notification as needed. Receive and process books, materials, and equipment and reconcile with packing slips and invoices. Repair books, magazines, materials, and equipment or process for repair at outside facilities (e.g., bindery). Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot on audiovisual equipment. Assist in the annual inventory and weeding of library media center materials. Clerical Support Maintain physical and computerized files, including uploading MARC records and cataloging and processing library materials. Prepare customized lists of books by topic as requested by teachers to support curriculum. Assist librarian in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports. Student Management Supervise students and assist librarian and teachers to maintain student behavior and maintain an orderly atmosphere. Perform assigned student monitoring duties. Other Supervise library operation in absence of the librarian. Assist with the supervision of parent volunteers and student aides. Maintain and keep the library neat and orderly. Equipment Used:
Computer, printer, copier, interactive board, iPads, laptops, Promethean boards, and assorted technology tools used in libraries.
