The Associate Fashion Designer Lulextic and LillyLou nge is responsible for supporting the creation of innovative lounge and activewear styles, including styles appropriate for Golf, Tennis and Pickleball, that delight the consumer, have high full price sell through and contribute to the profitable growth of the company. The goal is to increase full price net sales and contribute to the growth of total company Profit Before Tax (PBT). A day in the life… Understand the Lilly Pulitzer® customer, lifestyle and positioning in the marketplace. Know and appreciate the Lilly Pulitzer® customer. This includes understanding the taste, fashion and lifestyle preferences and characteristics of the customer. Recognize why the customer purchases Lilly Pulitzer® merchandise instead of competing products. Translate this into products that delight the customer and have high sell through. Visit firsthand locations where Lilly Pulitzer® customer lives the lifestyle and shops for Lilly Pulitzer® merchandise. Spend sufficient time in retails stores and online to understand the customer, merchandise and marketplace. Visit Lilly Pulitzer® stores; understand what is selling at retail, and competitive trends. Protect and innovate in core franchise styles, collaborating with merchandising to manage the life cycle. Apply subtle design updates as needed. Develop innovative apparel fashion designs that delight the Lilly Pulitzer® customer, increasing total full price net sales through high full price sell throughs and contribute to the profitable growth of the company. Meet all assigned dates in the seasonal product development calendar and all adjacent product calendars. Work closely with Product Development, Technical Design, Print Design and Merchandising to develop successful product. Communicate, effectively, the design intention for each style and ensure sketches, bill of materials and garment descriptions accurately reflect the product. Research, propose and develop trims for your product categories. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, living in the solution. Focus on the right work at the right level – can you reach a solution to a situation by reaching out to fellow associates, or does the issue need to be elevated? Fit with The Company Creed and the Core Values. Demonstrate leadership within your team and the fashion design department. As Associate Designer, it is essential to demonstrate leadership in accordance with the Core Leadership Qualities of: Company First, See The Success, Inspire Others Positively, Foster Creativity within Structure, Develop Strategy and Deliver Results, Play to Win, and Win as a Team. Note, associates may be asked to perform duties that are outside the specific functions that are listed. Qualifications for the Position A four-year college degree is required, preferably with a fashion design major. Minimum of 2 years of knit sportswear design experience. Experience in activewear is preferred. Must have genuine excitement for the Lilly Pulitzer® concept and must share the vision for the merchandise and the lifestyle, consistent with the positioning in the marketplace. Must have the taste level and fashion sense to understand the Lilly Pulitzer® customer and to design fashion apparel which appeals to the Lilly customer and sells. Needs to understand and appreciate the brand and the customer. Needs the creativity and courage to develop fashion trends and a fashion collection, balanced with the pragmatism to create commercially successful merchandise. Must have sufficient knowledge of construction, fit and fabric characteristics to be able to create wearable designs. The sense of urgency necessary in the apparel industry is required. A Little More to Know… This position is classified as full-time salaried; it is exempt and is not eligible for overtime. This position is eligible for standard company benefits. This position is required to maintain a structured hybrid work schedule based out of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. This hybrid schedule, which includes work done in the King of Prussia Office as well as your Home Office, will be determined by your supervisor. The position requires some domestic travel. Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods. This position is expected to collaborate effectively with other individuals in alignment with our Core Values and Core Leadership Qualities.
