Overview Associate Producer (Public Programming) role at National Geographic Society. The Public Programming team creates ticketed and free experiences at the Museum of Exploration that engage local and global audiences, showcase National Geographic Explorers, and highlight the Museum’s exhibitions and collections. Programs include National Geographic Live touring speaker series and the Speakers Bureau, designed to deepen public understanding of science, exploration, and storytelling while driving sustainable revenue. What You’ll Contribute The Associate Producer will report to the Director of Production and Development for National Geographic Live and contribute to the creative development for on-campus public programs and events, while assisting the production team on live touring shows. Responsibilities On-Campus Programming Media Production (75%): Lead creative development and execution of audiovisual assets for on-campus events, including videos, motion graphics, presentations, and interactive media. Manage internal and external production resources, timelines, and deliverables from concept to delivery. Work closely with internal teams to ensure media aligns with event needs, technical specifications, and brand standards. Edit and package content that enhances the guest experience and supports event storytelling. Document all assets, clearances, and rights information for archival and future use. Support for National Geographic Live & Speakers Bureau Content (20%): Assist producers on large-scale media productions; coordinate communication with Explorers, speakers, and vendors regarding production logistics and deliverables. Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements for Production Team. Assist in documenting assets, clearances, and rights information for archival and future use. Assist in modifying and preparing existing shows and Speakers Bureau presentations for custom or specialized audiences. Contribute to marketing asset creation and audience engagement tools as needed. Roster & Show Development Research (5%): Conduct research on National Geographic Explorers and story opportunities; support annual rosters and participate in brainstorms and pitches for new show concepts. Qualifications Educational Background Bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum Years And Type Of Experience 2+ years of experience in multimedia production, live event storytelling, or creative content development. Knowledge And Skills Required Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere Pro and After Effects; strong presentation tools (Keynote, PowerPoint). Experience managing multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Exceptional storytelling instincts with a passion for science, exploration, and education. Clear communication with both creative and technical collaborators and external talent. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed based on event schedules. Desired Qualifications Experience producing media for museums, performing arts, or live events. Familiarity with rights management and asset clearance workflows. Interest in nonfiction stories about wildlife, landscapes, and human cultures. Interest in growing into a lead producer role. Supervision No direct reports Salary Information The National Geographic Society offers a competitive total rewards package. Salary range for this position is $57,900.00 - $61,000.00. Designation Resident - Base Camp onsite requirements vary by role; schedule may adjust based on workflow and deadlines. Some roles require on-site presence at Base Camp.
