About the Job
The School of Music in the College of Liberal Arts occasionally hires part-time and/or short‑term musicians to provide live music for day and/or evening classes. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2025–2026 academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt. Applicants will only be contacted should an active opening occur during the academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.
Job Responsibilities
Perform music during day and/or evening classes, performances, and/or events through reading music by sight.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Must be able to play a variety of music with a broad stylistic range and flexibility.
Wind, brass, percussion, and/or string instruments for instrumentation needs ranging from chamber ensembles to symphonic orchestras.
Must be able to read and play relatively difficult music by sight.
Must be reliable and able to meet class, rehearsal, and performance schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing classical works with a wide range of styles.
Broad rhythmic and metric range.
Ability to read music.
Pay and Benefits Pay Range:
$20.00 – $30.00 per hour depending on education/qualifications/experience.

While our salary ranges provide a framework, it is important to note that most of the time, the initial pay may not reach the maximum of the range. This approach ensures that compensation reflects the value and unique contributions of each candidate while maintaining equity within our organization.
