Position Summary The role is with the Missouri Division of Tourism (MDT). MDT is the administrative arm of the Missouri Tourism Commission and focuses on promoting Missouri as a premier travel destination.

Salary Base pay range:

$69,000.00/yr – $71,000.00/yr

Annual Salary:

$69,000 – $71,000

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the selected candidate is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in the paycheck.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the Cooperative Marketing Program and the Meet in Missouri Grant.

Establish and direct program guidelines and processes including public awareness, education, certification, evaluation, funding allotments, application, measurement, reimbursement, reporting, and outcomes.

Oversee program compliance with statutes, delegation authority, policies and procedures.

Review quarterly reimbursement requests from participating Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) to ensure contractual and guideline compliance.

Receive, review, and approve or reject all program applications for the Marketing Matching Grant, the Marketing Platform Development grant, and the Meet in Missouri Grant.

Receive and review Project Summary Reports and compose a MDT Project Summary Report detailing outcomes and measurements for each DMO and the state.

Collaborate with MDT’s advertising agency to manage approved media markets, compile media exchange lists, ensure ad placements for partner DMOs, and participate in monthly status updates.

Develop the program budget and monitor program expenditures in cooperation with the Division Director.

Direct the work of one Business Grant Specialist related to program compliance, educational workshops, application management, ad approvals, contract reimbursements, and measurement reporting.

Supervise the Business Grant Specialist’s daily assignments, leave requests, hiring, disciplinary action, and performance appraisals.

Provide technical assistance to DMOs, including webinars and responses to phone, written inquiries, and emails on cooperative marketing for the state.

Assist and present information to tourism industry stakeholders and partners.

Direct the evaluation of approximately 75 projects each fiscal year.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven or more years of professional experience in business or public administration, marketing, advertising, communications, accounting, or a closely related field, obtained through work experience and/or a Bachelor’s Degree.

Lack of post‑secondary education will not be the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.

Competencies

Comprehensive knowledge of the tourism industry and Missouri’s tourism regions.

Considerable knowledge of governmental budgeting, fiscal management, and grants and contract management.

Ability to review, analyze, and interpret federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the program.

Ability to develop, implement, and administer program-based seminars, workshops, or training sessions.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with departmental officials, legislators, industry contacts, staff associates, and the general public.

Ability to analyze and evaluate policies and operations and formulate recommendations.

Effective communication skills.

Leadership and supervisory skills for professional, technical, and related program staff.

Ability to manage change, provide program management, and achieve results.

Strategic planning ability to develop short‑ and long‑range plans that meet objectives and contribute to the agency’s mission.

Demonstrated regular and reliable attendance.
