KABB/WOAI is looking for a take‑charge Anchor/Reporter who can also anchor a Saturday evening show and be ready to fill‑in anchor on any given day. We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative, and aggressive reporter who can think and perform outside the box. The ideal candidate should be able to develop story ideas and gather information for newscasts, have sound writing skills, a great work ethic, and a can‑do attitude. The best person for this job will have excellent live‑shot skills, thrive on breaking stories, and from both the field and the anchor desk, provide a strong on‑camera presence who speaks clearly and effectively with confidence.
No day will look the same as a Reporter, however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:
Create, gather, and write meaningful stories for station newscasts, websites, and social media platforms
Provide news on‑air as directed by the news management team
Engage with local community members
Review material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
Work closely with all members of the news team, which would include Producers, Editors, Anchors, News Managers, etc.
As an anchor:
Deliver a strong, engaging presence from the desk
Practice solid research and fact‑checking
Show the ability to write and edit scripts effectively and efficiently
Have strong interviewing skills
Communicate clearly on‑air to viewers and behind‑the‑scenes with producers
Be flexible as you may fill in on our Fox SA morning and 9p shows, News 4 Morning, Early Evening, and Late shows
Additionally, this person should…
Have proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systems
Excel in storytelling across multiple platforms
Possess strong writing and copy‑editing skills
Have 2 years of experience as a Reporter
Hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred
Be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
The ability to shoot and/or edit when called upon
