Job Summary The Department of Family & Preventive Medicine (DFPM) seeks a motivated, creative, and organized individual to fill the Marketing & Communications Specialist role. The specialist supports the department’s communications and marketing efforts across strategic, creative, technical, and administrative domains. The specialist contributes to internal and external communications, content development, event support, and digital platforms.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and communications plans for both internal and external audiences.
Write and edit content for news stories, press releases, and newsletters.
Create, schedule, and publish social media content across platforms using best practices and creative approaches.
Maintain and update website content using web content management systems.
Support internal communication efforts for employee‑facing channels.
Assist with planning and logistics for department events including promotional materials, photography, and coordination.
Maintain records and archives of communications assets.
Provide administrative support for communication operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Job Levels:
Marketing Communication Specialist, I : Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s degree.
Marketing Communication Specialist, II : Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
Knowledge of AP style and editorial standards.
Familiarity with graphic design tools.
Experience with HTML and web content management systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
Special Instructions Summary Please submit two writing samples: one news‑style story and one social media post.
