Job Description
As a member of the NBC Sports Communications Department, the Manager, Communications is responsible for developing strategic plans for and executing publicity of NBC Sports’ marketing and promotional activity around all properties, with a focus on the convergence of sports, entertainment, music, style, and culture. This position will have exposure across a variety of partners, with the expectation of impactful input across key events and properties. The person will also work closely with Ad Sales Communications to effectively publicize and manage all matters related to NBCUniversal’s sports advertising sales.
The publicist will also be on-site, as needed, to support coverage at major events, and will also support NBC Sports’ day-to-day sports publicity needs, with the potential to lead on select properties. The role calls for division- and company-wide collaboration, requiring work with NBC Sports’ production, programming, and marketing departments as well as other communications departments within Comcast NBCUniversal.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute publicity strategy to secure media coverage on NBC Sports’ marketing and promotion to outlets covering entertainment, music, style, and culture, with additional sports crossover.
Write and distribute press releases.
Create, manage and evolve non-sports focused press lists and targets.
Interact with talent, and tell their stories in non-traditional outlets – pitch the story, arrange the interview, and prepare messaging, where appropriate.
Contribute social media content and ideas for NBC Sports Communications’ platforms.
Work with NBC Sports Communications team to support all properties and events where appropriate.
Coordinate with other areas of NBC Sports, specifically Talent, Production, Programming, and Marketing daily to help develop story ideas.
Assist with press strategy, media inquiries, and events for NBC Sports.
Work with NBCUniversal Ad Sales Communications to publicize and manage news related to advertising sales of events such as the Olympics, Super Bowl, and more.
Support other sports and initiatives in the department, including internal communications, and CSR.
Identify, establish, and maintain personal relationships with key contacts in the press and industry partners.
Occasionally travel to events to assist PR efforts.
Field press inquiries.
Basic Requirements
Proactive communications professional with 5+ years of experience, ideally with experience with outlets/publications covering media, entertainment, music, style, and culture, ideally with some sports crossover.
Ability to cultivate and pitch stories, create messaging documents, prepare spokespeople, and handle in-bound press inquiries.
Exceptional collaboration skills to work with necessary internal and external groups.
Proven writing skills, with examples of written work such as press releases, bios, or media guides.
Select travel to key events presented by NBC Sports.
In-office requirement of 4 days a week minimum, Tuesday through Thursday, based in Stamford, Conn. Exceptions made for travel.

Hybrid Work Arrangement This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
