About the Role
The San Francisco SPCA is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer who combines creative excellence with strategic thinking. This is a hands‑on design role ideal for someone with agency or fast‑paced in‑house experience. You’ll be a core member of our small but mighty creative team, collaborating closely with our Copywriter and Creative Director to concept and execute campaigns that bring our mission to life. Your design work will play a vital role in defining how our audiences connect with animals, our programs, and our services. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate directly with the Creative Director to introduce and execute new marketing campaigns. Work closely with a Copywriter to ensure design and messaging are cohesive and impactful. Design digital marketing assets—including website sliders, landing pages, emails, and social media visuals—for use across multiple platforms. Create print collateral such as publications, greeting cards, postcards, flyers, and other physical assets that follow established brand standards and templates, ensuring consistency across materials. Concept environmental design, including signage, murals, and more. Ensure all design files are built to professional standards and optimized for collaboration across multiple designers. Retouch, color‑correct, and alter imagery in Photoshop as needed. Adhere to project management timelines and review periods while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Contribute creative ideas during brainstorming sessions, bringing energy and insight to every project. Requirements
Experienced: 5‑7 years in design, ideally within an agency, retail, or fast‑paced creative environment. Skilled in digital and print design: Deep experience in digital design and web platforms paired with a demonstrated print background. Creative and detail‑oriented: A portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking, technical precision, and versatility across media. Professionally trained: You understand how to build clean, organized design files that make collaboration seamless. Adaptive and proactive: You’re a quick learner, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to find creative solutions. Collaborative: You thrive working with a creative team—including copywriters, marketers, and other designers—and care deeply about shared success. Storyteller: You are a storyteller at heart. You bring our mission to life through creative visuals that inspire empathy, spark connection, and move people to act. Passionate: You bring enthusiasm and energy to every project and take pride in using design to make a meaningful difference. Skills & Tools
Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign—expert level; Premiere and After Effects—some experience preferred/eager to learn. WordPress and working knowledge of HTML/CSS required. Canva—familiarity preferred. Strong understanding of responsive web design and digital best practices. Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills. Salary & Benefits
The starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. The expected range is $70,000 – $80,000 per year.
