CivilGrid aggregates public and proprietary utility, geotechnical, environmental, and jurisdictional data. The consolidated information is sold via our collaborative SaaS mapping platform to engineers and developers who need it to make early-stage decisions on real estate and infrastructure projects. Real time data access reduces labor and project delays, accelerates decision making and reduces project risk. Collaborative features ensure faster information flow and decisioning inside and outside the organization and better project insight retention over time.

Position Description CivilGrid’s Data team uncovers and manages the foundational datasets underlying the CivilGrid app. In this role, you’ll be a key early hire for a new group within the Data team laser-focused on delivering insights from engineering record drawings and as-builts.

In this position, you will:

Interpret and markup utilities record drawings and as-builts for digitization capture

Conduct QA/QC on all digitized work products

Process digitized data using ETL scripts

Project manage task workflows and coordinate with stakeholders on priorities and timelines

Continuously test and implement new tools to improve processes.

Serve as internal subject matter expert for all things CAD

This is a unique opportunity for a CAD technician who enjoys experimenting with tools and is excited to contribute directly to the growth of a rapidly-scaling startup.

Who You Are

3+ years of hands-on experience as a civil CAD technician/drafter

Preferred: Experience in utilities design at a ENR500 engineering consulting firm, utility agency or DOT, or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) contractor

Strong ability to interpret civil engineering plans, record drawings, and as-builts

Proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation)

Technical tinkerer: enjoys learning new software, tools, and techniques.

Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision

Excited to work in a fast-moving startup environment - you value autonomy, creativity, and impact

Bonus: familiarity with SUE standards and practices

Bonus: proficiency with GIS tools

Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Hybrid in Denver, CO, Charlotte, NC, Kansas City, MO, or Philadelphia, PA with 2-3 days a week in person

Estimated base salary: $65k-75k DOE
