Piedmont Journalism Foundation (PJF), the nonprofit owner of two prize-winning newspapers, is seeking an experienced, ambitious leader committed to the importance of local journalism as the bedrock of engaged citizens and sound local governance to be its new publisher.
Fauquier Times and Prince William Times publish daily online and weekly in print.The publisher is the face of the papers in both communities and responsible for all operations including financial performance, strategic planning, building community support and membership, expanding digital presence, advertising, marketing, fundraising, and oversight of the newsroom.
Fauquier is a largely rural county of 70,000 with a rich history and some of the country’s most beautiful, conserved landscape. Fauquier Times has been its principal newspaper for decades. Its office and newsroom is located in Warrenton, Va, the scenic county seat. Prince William County, on Fauquier’s eastern border, is Virginia’s second-largest country, and the 10th most diverse county in the nation. Both counties are close to Washington D.C. and home to many of the nation’s leaders in business, government, journalism and the military. Both are also at the epicenter of the world’s largest concentration of data centers and are playing a leading role in the local and statewide debate over the pace and extent of their construction (see www.thenewenergycrisis.com).
