University Marketing & Communications has an exciting opening for a Video Producer. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Video Producer is responsible for creating compelling and effective video content that supports the University of Washington’s marketing and storytelling efforts. Working closely with team members across UMAC, this role shoots, edits and delivers videos for use across web, social media, events and other communications channels. The Video Producer applies strong technical and creative skills to tell meaningful stories that reflect the University’s brand and values.

What You Will Do

Video Production and Editing (55%)

  • Film, edit and deliver high-quality video content in a variety of styles and formats.
  • Execute video shoots independently or as part of a team, handling camera, lighting and sound.
  • Edit footage for multiple platforms (YouTube, social media, events), using creative storytelling techniques. Assist in content adaptation, versioning or repurposing for different platforms or formats.
  • Apply visual and audio polish through color correction, sound mixing, motion graphics or templates.
  • Contribute to larger-scale projects as a supporting team member, offering technical and creative input throughout the production process.
  • Support departmental or unit-wide projects by contributing to quick‑turn video requests or social clips.
  • Perform additional production‑related tasks in support of the UMAC creative team.
  • Stay current on video trends and platform formats.

Collaboration and Project Support (25%)

  • Collaborate with content creators, designers and other team members to bring video concepts to life.
  • Participate in creative concepting and contribute original ideas during planning and pre‑production stages.
  • Assist with project coordination, scheduling and tracking under the direction of senior team members.
  • Attend team meetings, brainstorms and creative reviews and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive creative environment.
  • Contribute to team documentation or workflow improvement efforts.

Asset and Equipment Management (10%)

  • Help maintain the organization of video archives and asset libraries.
  • Support inventory management and equipment prep for shoots.
  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of professional video production experience.

What You Bring

  • Strong technical skills in camera operation, lighting setups, audio capture and editing workflows.
  • Experience producing content for social media, web and/or marketing campaigns.
  • Motion graphics or color grading experience.
  • Ability to implement accessibility standards and a commitment to equity and inclusive storytelling.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere and After Effects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to grow.
  • Experience in TV, commercial, documentary or educational media production preferred.

What You Can Expect

  • Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
  • Frequent local travel is expected.
  • Ability to support event setup and tear down, including lifting 20 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds on occasion.

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details

Pay Range Minimum: $68,376.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum: $78,924.00 annual
