Part‑Time Faculty: Writing and Composition Program Instructor, English
Fordham University’s Office of the Provost, Arts & Sciences: English is seeking part‑time, Non‑Tenure‑Track (NTT) faculty to teach in the first‑year Writing & Composition Program on a rolling basis. Candidates may be offered up to two sections of Composition I or Composition II, the required core courses that focus on rhetorical inquiry, writing process, and research‑based writing. Composition courses are capped at 16 students to support Fordham’s Jesuit principle of cura personalis.
We seek instructors familiar with research‑based best practices in college writing pedagogy, especially inclusive and antiracist approaches, that foster engaging, equitable learning environments aligned with Fordham’s mission of racial justice.
Location: Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses
Open Date: Aug 02, 2023
Salary: $7,950 per course (new instructors as of August 1, 2023, set by the Adjunct Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement). Part‑time NTT faculty may teach a maximum of two courses per semester across either or both campuses.
Description
Teach first‑year composition courses, develop course materials, facilitate writing workshops, and support diverse, inclusive classroom environments. Provide mentorship and feedback to students through peer review, individual conferencing, and revision-oriented assignments. Contribute to curriculum development and community outreach that aligns with Fordham’s strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree (PhD or MFA) required.
- Minimum of one year of experience teaching first‑year writing courses at the college or university level.
- Experience teaching culturally and linguistically diverse students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student‑centered best practices, including revision, peer review, and individual conferencing.
