Communications Associate The Georgia Muslim Voter Project (GAMVP) is a non-partisan, non-profit (501c3) organization created to increase political participation among American Muslims and educate our communities about the importance of voting. The mission of GAMVP is to empower Muslims in Georgia to register to vote, show up to the polls, and increase voter turnout in elections through voter education, registration drives, and grassroots organizing. We believe that in order to cultivate lifelong voters, we truly need to engage voters in every local, state, and national election. We envision an active, engaged American Muslim voting bloc, capable of upholding the equitable rights of American Muslims.

Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Communications Associate to join GAMVP. The Communications Associate will report directly to the Communications Director. As a Communications Associate, you will assist in creating and implementing communication strategies that promote the organization's mission and values. The Communications Associate will be responsible for executing communication strategies, creating engaging content, and assisting with outreach efforts.

Responsibilities Social Media

Creating and managing GAMVP’s content calendar

Researching current trends and content for GAMVP’s social platforms

Multimedia content creation for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, BlueSky, TikTok, and Substack (short-form video, graphics, reels, and infographics).

Scheduling all posts and ensuring they are published correctly at the intended date and time.

Lead GAMVP’s rapid response communications on social platforms during breaking news or key moments.

Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and DMs on all platforms to maintain engagement and community trust.

Identify opportunities to grow audiences through partnerships, paid boosts, influencer collaborations, and engagement strategies.

Ensure digital content is accessible (alt text, captions, formatting) and optimized for basic SEO.

Weekly Analytics reporting.

Email Marketing

Draft and send out seasonal newsletters (legislative newsletter, elections newsletter, holiday specific, event emails)

Develop and maintain email engagement journeys (welcome series, advocacy sequences, etc.).

Monthly Analytics reporting.

Website Maintenance

Regularly update GAMVP’s Insights, News clips, and seasonal landing pages (Voter Landing Page, Policy Insights, etc.)

Regular maintenance of QR codes and GAMVP’s QR code database.

Regularly update GAMVP’s Bio Sites.

Monthly Analytics reporting.

Coordinate with consultants as needed.

Press & Media

Review Media Requests daily.

Share press clips with GAMVP staff daily.

Draft Media Advisories and Press Releases as needed.

Maintain GAMVP’s Press List.

Research press contacts for potential connections.

Support op-eds as needed.

Interdepartmental Collaboration

Support cross-functional program and campaign communications needs (YA, Base Building, VR/GOTV, Fundraising, etc.)

Support GAMVP’s Data Collection and reporting work as needed.

Serve as the point of contact for internal communications requests and manage fulfillment through the request system.

Communications Infrastructure

Ensure all external communications align with GAMVP’s mission, voice, and brand guidelines.

Maintain and organize canva files, Adobe design files, and media files maintenance.

Track and manage communications timelines to meet campaign deadlines.

Attending external meetings with consultants and partners.

Commitment to career growth through trainings and webinars

Qualifications

1-2 years of relevant experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Political Science, International Affairs, or similar.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in social media platforms and social media management tools.

Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud).

Knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., Squarespace, Action Network).

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Passion for civic engagement and commitment to equity, human rights, and voting rights

Understanding of Muslim communities and cultural competency around diverse Muslim issues.

Basic understanding of the Georgia political and electoral landscape.

Salary, Benefits, and Requirements Salary: $50k/year

Requirements

40 hours/week

Hybrid: 2 days in person in Dunwoody, GA
